Which wedding photography works for you?

Our Two Wedding Favorite Styles

Everyday the invention of a word is created to describe a photographer's style.  But there is no two that are alike!  From Modern, Classical, Fresh, Romantic, Photojournalistic, Lifestyle, Fashionable, Dramatic story-telling or some other made up word an artist decided to describe his/her work.  The list can go on infinitely!  To help narrow down your search, here are the two that we generally believe to be the best combination for wedding photography:

Traditional wedding photography is like what it sounds.  You go into a controlled setting essentially taking poses that are known to look good with proper lighting.  The focus is usually on the subject(s) face defining their expression, mood, and personality.  Traditional posing also ca be from shoulders up, waist up, and / or full body.  If you been around me often, it's what I call "tight, middle, wide."

The great thing about traditional posing is you know you will get great image(s).  Traditional Wedding Photography sets aside time during your ceremony, focusing on predictable and repeatable poses that are widely known to slim the waste, pucker up the chest, and make those hips create a beautiful hourglass body figure.  For those guys out there, it broadens the shoulders and focuses on your great looks!  Like all photography techniques, there will be pros and cons that come with them.

Again, the pros for traditional portraits are, it's known to get predictable and repeatable great images.  The photographer guides you into looking your best!

Unfortunately the cons for traditional wedding photography is you have to plan within your wedding schedule while utilizing poses that are not that comfortable.  This has a incredibly high risk of capturing unnatural smiles and the look of fake happiness.

We all love beautiful stories!  One of my favorite is photojournalism.  Photojournalism is the introvert unlike traditional where the photographer has to act as an extrovert guiding his/her model into the perfect pose.  Photojournalism defines your big moment as reality!  It shares the realistic part of you, your family, groom, his side, and friends.  A great photographer will focus on the environment, defining the decor, those who are in attendance, the moment, the action, and the mood.

The pros to photojournalism within a wedding portrait is it is always less stressful.  The photographer will work around the venue's timetable rather than setting time within it to take all possible images.  This truly brings out the best smiles as the groom and bride aren't coerced into saying, "Cheese!"  The images are without orchestration; they are raw, realistic, and factual.

Like all photography styles, there are some cons.  The issue with photojournalism is that it is unpredictable.  You may not look your best depending on when the camera goes snap and records that moment in time.  There are many possibilities to what could go wrong!

Our style to photographer of any topic is Traditional Photojournalistic.  Utilizing our professional style lens' we tend to take a introverted style of photographer zooming from inside and around the wedding party while still taking time to really focus on you guiding your through posing while defining your special moment!
