3 ways to prepare your child for a successful family portrait!
Preparing your child or children for a photography session can make or break your family portraits session. There are 3 must dos' that will help you make it through your family picture session successfully.
1. Bring water and snacks to your portrait session...
Have you ever watched the children's movie called "The Croods?" Well its like what they say in the movie, "food fixes everything." Yes it does! a little snack can go a long way with keeping your child happy and ready to smile in front of the camera. Just remember do not sugar them up becuase that also detrimental to your photography picture session.
2. Interaction
One of my favorite things to do is have parents interact with their children while on your portrait scene. The are several reasons for this....
- Kids love attention from their parents.
- It helps restrict your child's movement allowing for a crispier focus point.
- Plus it allows your child to feel comfortable in front of the camera
Let's face it, kids like attention from the parents. The more interaction between the all of the family the more fun they have, which opens up the camera to defining natural smiles and the perfect image! The more interaction play there is... The more likely you are going to get much more images of the moments in memories for future dates to look back upon wishing you can do it all over again!
3. Bring the favorite toy!
All children have that favorite toy, blanket, or object that if they lost it, it would be a nightmare putting them to bed. These are usually the perfect things to bring out your children's personality. Children tend to become serious when it comes to their toys, the give you give you a more adult like attitude in photographs and they also can be more child like giving you them their playtime enjoying being themselves. One things is for sure. Bring it with you!
We love to interview your child with their toy. It brings out the seriousness and the fun in their facial expressions. Plus toys can make the portrait picture session more fun, keep them entertained while we are photography mom and dad, and having tons of toys can bring out some fun entertaining images like the one on the right!
