4th of July Portraits by Ember Rian Photography

July 4, 2015

Independence Day… July 4th.

I found this really nice quote while looking up random 4th of July stuff online.  John Adams once wrote, "But what do we mean by the American Revolution?”  He further wrote, "Do we mean the American war?” "The Revolution was affected before the war commenced” (Adams, n/a). Adams further wrote, "The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations...” "This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution” (Adams, n/a).

So what does this all mean?  What actually happened?  Well, according to the true history of the United States, the declaration of independence was declared on July 2nd.  The declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4th, and the actual celebration of Independence Day actually took place on July 8th.  Great Brittan didn??™t get wind of the idea of a revolution until late August of 1776.  But the actual battle where England crossed the red line in the dirt was during the battle of Lexington and Concord, which was fought on April 19, 1775.  The Revolution started when the colonist finally had enough and the tension busted between the 13 colonies and England.

According to history.com the revolutionary war??™s tension started as far back as 1764 when Great Britain enacted a series of measures aimed at raising revenue from its 13 American colonies.  This generated fierce resentment among the colonists, who protested against taxation without representation.

High School Grads and Juniors, you are about to embark on a journey that can effect your future for years to come.  As you become legally able to vote your principles, opinions, and sentiments should be shared to your politician so you can have a voice.  Don't let your government take your voice away.  Speak out; vote.  You are the next revolution!  When you change your obligations from student to adult, you will create a radical change that can set the stage for you, your friends, and your family on your life's persuade of happiness!

For those with radical ideas and want to share them through portraits I have one question for you... What was the name of the group that dumped the tea overboard to protest taxation without representation?
