There's a quote flying around the internet regarding camera equipment. It goes something like this, "Nice camera, I bet it takes nice pictures!" On a parallel note, "Nice picture, I bet you have a nice camera!" I would like to say my equipment doesn't matter, however, it does help. For me lighting is more important than my camera. That is why I tend to reinvest back into you! My investment in equipment not only helps me as a photographer but it also helps me help you look great. Previously when i used my basic setup of my Nikon 50mm and my 18-105mm f4.5 for close wide angle shots I still got great images but needed more light to accomplish an award winning portrait. It's really not the equipment that allows a great portrait, it is really the photographers eye. It's his/her ability to use composition, lighting, color, shapes, texture and posing to make a picture perfect gallery shot. Over the last few years I have spend thousands of dollars reinvesting in equipment which is an investment into my clients. Now when going out for portrait sessions locally in Yucaipa, Temecula, and any other locations throughout the Inland Empire I shoot with my new lens. The Nikon 70-200 VR II lens and my super wide angle lens are my favorites of my arsenal to shoot families defining them as a family. Now I can take photograph in low light with ease because my lens are made for capturing more light. It really helps using my off camera lighting system. I admit it was hard with basic equipment but I was still able to compete and win photography contests such as the Indo Date Festival like this Grand Prize winner posted below.
