The United States flag, formally known as the Betsy Ross flag, represents freedom. Betsy Ross was a Quacker, the same people that liberated African Europeans from slavery through a movement known as the abolitionist movement which also took place a few years later within the United States best known as the Underground Railroad.  The 13 stripes of red and white represented the 13 new states.  The blue with white stars, the symbol of a new constellation or birth of a new nation.  Each star equal in size and no more important than the one standing next to it, a symbol of equality.  That is is our flag, a symbol of unity, equality, and freedom!  God bless!
