Prepping for your high school senior portraits session

June 18, 2015

I was browsing online using Google after entering "preparing for a photo shoot" and found an interesting perspective by Roman Fitness Systems.com. Its worth reading about his perspective on preparing on photo shoots because it brings up fitness and how you manage your body to look its greatest before a photography session. It's great advice if you are looking to do one of our Boudiour and Glamour sessions.

This particular read is a models perspective on how he prepares for a body fitness magazine shoot. Now I know you are probably thinking in the back of your head. I am a just a mom from San Jacinto, or a Dad from Hemet, an aunt or uncle from Yucaipa, or what ever city you live in. I understand I am comparing your photoshoot to that of a body builder. I get that and it may discourage you to read this but he does bring up some valid points and its worth reading. He quoted, "The thing about photo prep is that it??™s pretty exacting stuff, and—if you really want amazing photos—it??™s not as simple as getting as lean as possible and then stand in front of a camera." So basically you don't have to be the perfect shape but there are ways to still get those amazing photos that you have always wanted of yourself. And here is a few ways we can help you do it.

His first topic was "photo ready shape." He actually isn't talking so much as losing weight or becoming pure muscle to express his body in front of a camera but he is simply putting his focus on confidence. As a photographer what I hear most from my clients when we first start their photography session is that they are nervous to be in front of a camera.  Lets face it, us normal people are not in the spot light to often. Most of us perceive ourselves differently from the eyes of others. My job as a photographer is to build confidence in you and help you feel confortable with Ember Rain Portraits so we can define you as an individual. He then focuses on "The pictures that are 'impressive' on there own, without the virtue of comparison, you need to achieve a very respectable level of leanness." Now this obviously doesn't apply to a normal family portrait but there are photography topics that it could. That being the obvious body building, Glamour, Bourdiour, etc. In the end, he states, "If your going to book a shoot, make sure you look better than you ever looked." I call that confidence.

If you think you can, you will and your images will too!
